Poem : Egypt
It is a fact that I never did intend to stay
my visa has expired what else can I say
I did breathe your air and it made me calm
In a few places there I did leave my charm
I learnt your history, which I tried not to harm
From its essence though my soul I did embalm
I savoured your dishes and devoured your fruits
Life is such… you know travellers have no disputes
Your seas of joy spun its wave around me
Your pyramids though couldn’t find my key
The world sees you as Egypt but I as a crypt
As much as I saw, it’s just the tip of the script
From your land I am gone, I must be forgotten
Like your mummies in cotton I don’t want to rotten
I remember you still all your ruins and repair
I promise I’ll visit soon, please don’t despair
an extended metaphor of a poem written to me (I am Egypt in the poem) 🙂 from the transient people that come into my life…
